![]() ![]() I debated whether to post this here or to post it in the Tuners forum. I can say that Q704 seems to at least not be shorted, DC voltages are as follows: Anyway, can anyone explain how this MPX circuit works, or help me troubleshoot? The portion that drives the neon lamp? Apparently it's a common board that KLH used across multiple units: KLH Models 18, 20, 24, 26 and 27 as far as I can tell, but there are apparently no service manuals out there and I'm a total novice when it comes to FM alignment. I am embedding the schematic for the MPX board below. As an experiment I subbed in a pair of LED's (reverse polarity pair to handle AC) with a series resistor and same thing - just flickers constantly, so i reverted back to the NE-2. It's all original - an NE-2 Neon lamp - and it seems to just flicker all the time, no matter what kind of signal is tuned in. The problem I have concerns the FM Stereo indicator light: The FM Stereo light just seems to have a mind of its own (i.e. The actual Tuner section itself works pretty well - it's fairly sensitive and it plays in Stereo when the usual suspects are tuned in. Also, I converted the pilot light from a Neon lamp to an LED - no longer powered from AC on the PS board but I tapped into the regulated 12V supply easily enough. There is still an audible amount of hum/noise at low volumes, but I will tackle that another day. I just did a full recap (every electrolytic in the unit) which got the Left channel performing as well as the Right. I cannot locate a service manual for it, just the schematic.īackground: The general condition is good but the Left channel had some significant distortion issues. ![]() I have a vintage KLH Model Twenty-Four "Hi-fi System" - receiver with built-in Garrard turntable and matching KLH 24 speakers.
